TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
In a story that JWOS first reported exclusively on Tuesday, Tennessee catcher Ally Shipman is transferring from the Lady Vols’ program.
Shipman’s name officially appeared in the NCAA’s transfer portal on Thursday, the only college softball player to officially enter the portal on June 24th. On Thursday evening, Shipman released a statement on social media that addressed her departure from Rocky Top.
Addressing the letter to ‘Lady Vol Nation,’ Shipman wrote, “First off, I’d like to thank both Ralph and Karen for the opportunity to be a Lady Vol. This University, this program, and this fan base will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you to my teammates and support staff for the relationships we have developed over the past three years. After lots of thought and prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. This has not been an easy decision for me, but I believe it is the right one. Love you all and always GBO.”
During her prep career, Shipman played for the So Cal Choppers in travel ball. She is a native of Valencia, California.
Shipman owns a .331 career batting average, with thirteen home runs and a .577 slugging percentage to her credit. As the Lady Vols’ starting catcher throughout her career, Shipman has made just five field errors and owns a .992 career fielding percentage.
