Abilene Christian head coach Bobby Reeves has stepped down from his position at the helm of the school’s softball program. The announcement of Reeves’ departure, made late Saturday night, means the Wildcats will embark on a search for just the fourth head coach in program history. Reeves spent nine seasons as the Wildcats’ head coach, collecting a 216-232 overall record during his tenure. ACU went 116-113 in conference play during that time, including posting a 78-77 record in Southland Conference play. Under Reeves’ guidance, the Wildcats transitioned from the Division II level to Division I in 2013 after playing in…

Although a number of lower-seeded teams were victorious on Thursday in Day 2 of the SEC Tournament, the surprising parts of the day’s results were the scores themselves, rather than the teams that came out on top. In the day’s opener, the final game from what was originally scheduled as Wednesday’s opening set of matchups, Georgia recorded a 4-1 win over Arkansas. The Bulldogs’ Kylie Bass threw a complete-game 2-hitter, stifling the Arkansas offense and tacking Arkansas’ Autumn Storms with just her seventh loss of the season. In addition to the two hits, Bass allowed just one run, a solo…

Day one of the 2019 edition of the SEC Softball Tournament could be summed up in one word: Wet. Torrential rains dominated much of the day, appearing in the early innings of South Carolina and Florida’s 1st-round matchup and not disappearing for several hours. A tornado warning in the midst of the weather delay forced those still in the stadium into the refuge of stairwells and other safe places, and didn’t do much for the softball side of things, either. Originally scheduled to play a quintet of games on Wednesday, the weather dictated a change of plans, as SEC officials…
