Nebraska legendary pitcher Peaches James will be one of seven individuals inducted into the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame later this fall. James, a Nebraska native, enjoyed one of the finest careers in Husker softball history. Playing for the Huskers from 2001-2004, James earned a nomination to the all-Big 12 conference first team in each of her four seasons in Lincoln. During her career, James led the Huskers to 149 victories, earning ninety-eight of them for her own personal record. She ended her career with a 1.19 ERA and 945 strikeouts. Former Valdosta State star Marti Littlefield has been announced as a member of the Gulf South Conference’s induction class of 2018. A former starting shortstop for the Blazers from 2009-2012, Littlefield was three times named an all-American during her career at Valdosta State. She earned the Gulf South’s Freshman of the Year honor in 2009 and earned first-team all-conference honors in each of her four years as a Blazer. Texas Arlington catcher Reagan Wright has been named the JWOS Player of the Week. Wright enjoyed an offensive outburst in the first game of her team’s three-game set against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. The sophomore backstop hit three home runs in the game, going 3-4 and driving in eight runs. Wright’s performance was only the third time in UTA program history that a player hit three home runs in a single game. Georgia senior pitcher Brittany Gray will miss the remainder of the 2018 season and postseason with a right biceps injury, according to a team release. Gray had only lost a single game in the 2018 season, boasting a 16-1 record that included twelve complete games. She leads the SEC with a 0.48 ERA in just over 100 innings pitched this season and boasts 134 strikeouts on the year. Oregon catcher Gwen Svekis is committed to going bald for a good cause. But first, she has to reach her fundraising goal of $10,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. St. Baldrick’s supports pediatric cancer research, and the cause is one that is very close to Svekis’ heart, as her mother recently battled and beat cancer.
