A first-team all-American at Louisiana-Lafayette in 2017, slugging shortstop DJ Sanders has announced her intentions to transfer to Oregon for her senior season. In a post on Facebook, Sanders announced her intention to transfer and thanked several individuals in Lafayette, including, of note, new head coach Gerry Glasco. It was confirmed to JWOS that Glasco reversed the school administration’s previous edict and will be granting a full release to Sanders to be able to play right away at her new school. Sanders earned all-American honors for the first time in 2017 after hitting .388 as a junior with twenty-nine home…

During their meeting with the President at the White House, the softball team presented Trump with a custom-made Rawlings…

When the Grand Canyon Antelopes take the field in 2018, they’ll begin fighting for something that they’ve never been in the mix for before: A WAC conference championship. When Grand Canyon joined Division I and the Western Athletic Conference in the summer of 2013, they had to endure four years of a so-called probationary period before attaining full-fledged membership status, a time period that precluded the Antelopes from postseason participation. With that cloud now lifted off the program, coach Ann Pierson’s softball squad is fully eligible for both the conference and NCAA postseason in 2018. The Antelopes finished 2017 with a…
Thanks to the perennial mainstay power of the Tennessee Lady Vols, orange is a color frequently seen amongst the finalists for the National Player of the Year award each year. But in 2017, a different shade of orange was seen, as well, when Syracuse’s Sydney O’Hara was named a top-ten finalist for the award. O’Hara, who had enjoyed a solid career in her underclassman years, put together one of the finest seasons in the recent history of college softball in the Northeastern United States. The “hometown kid” from the ‘Cuse suburbs put on a clinic for her hometown crowd in…
“I really want that one.” That was Caitlyn de la Haba’s first thought when she found out that the Lafayette College Leopards were looking for a new head coach this summer. Then the top assistant at George Mason, de la Haba wasn’t searching for a new job. “I was in a good position at George Mason,” she said. “Lafayette was the only position that I applied for.” Before accepting the position at George Mason, de la Haba had experience in the Patriot League as an assistant coach at Lehigh. She said that played a significant factor in applying for the…
