South Alabama head coach Becky Clark won her 600th career game on Sunday afternoon. While Clark celebrates her milestone victory, here are five fast facts about her that you should know.
1. Clark is the only coach that South Alabama has ever known.
Since the program began play in the 2007 season, Clark is the only head coach to ever lead the Jaguars’ program.
2. Nearly 450 of her wins have come at South Alabama.
Clark has been a head coach for eighteen years, with fifteen of them coming at USA. Since she began the Jaguars’ program, Clark owns 444 victories. She was previously the head coach at the University of Mobile for three seasons.
3. South Alabama earned a national seed in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Under Clark’s guidance, the Jaguars had quite a run in the early 2010s. In 2013, the Jags won 48 games and hosted an NCAA regional for the first time ever.
4. Clark has averaged almost 30 wins per season as the Jaguars’ head coach.
The Jaguars have also reached the 40-win plateau four times under Clark, including that magical 2013 run. The Jaguars moved as high as #11 in the national polls in the early 2010s, and ended the ’13 season ranked #17 in the nation, the highest final ranking in program history.
5. During her playing career, Clark was a 2-time Academic All-American.
She earned the award in 1993 and 1994 while at the University of Mobile. She played three seasons for the Rams after beginning her career at Troy.
