LSU head coach Beth Torina recorded the 500th victory of her career on Friday night.

Torina reached the milestone in impressive fashion, as her Tigers recorded a run-rule win over Sam Houston State and pitcher Shelby Wickersham threw her second career no-hitter in a 12-0 victory over the Bearkats.

While the victory was the 500th of Torina’s head coaching career, it was her 371st win as the head coach at LSU, a position that she’s held since the 2012 season. During her tenure at LSU, Torina has led the Tigers to four Women’s College World Series appearances, in 2012, ’15, ’16, and 2017.

Prior to taking the helm at LSU, Torina spent four years as the head coach at Florida International. Her coaching resume also includes stints as an assistant at Houston and Stetson.

LSU had a prepared group of video messages from program alumni to congratulate Torina on the achievement; in a school release after the game and tribute, Torina said, “It was really cool. I was truly thinking about all the women that made it happen. All the people that pitched the games, hit the home runs, did the things that made all those wins happen and it is a really special group. So many women that I just love dearly and unconditionally, and it just makes me proud of all things they’ve accomplished.”
