TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Tennessee is hiring Chris Malveaux as an assistant coach, sources confirmed to JWOS on Sunday.
Malveaux joins the Lady Vols after three years on staff at Missouri, where he was the team’s hitting coach and shepherded the Tigers’ offense to an impressive 2021 season at the plate. Under his guidance, the squad finished with a .320 batting average and 91 home runs, with 382 runs scored and 184 extra base hits on the year.
In the NCAA tournament, the Tigers were selected as the #8 national seed and hosted both a Regional and Super Regional, falling one win shy of a berth in the Women’s College World Series.
Prior to his tenure at Missouri, Malveaux spent the 2018 season as the video coordinator at Kansas. His resume includes stints as an assistant coach at Bradley, McNeese, and Louisiana-Lafayette across two different stints. He also was the head coach at McNeese from 2005-08.
During the 2021 season, Tennessee’s offense finished with a .302 batting average and 64 home runs. The Lady Vols saw three hitters finish with batting averages above .350, and the team collected 313 runs scored and 161 extra base hits. The Lady Vols earned the #9 national seed in the NCAA tournament, but were eliminated in the regional semifinals.
