Casey Stangel has become one of the first hires to the staff of new Vanderbilt head football coach Clark Lea, joining the program as the Director of Football Operations.
Stangel spent the past four years on staff with the Vanderbilt baseball program, including the last two with the dual titles of Internal Operations Coordinator and Assistant to the Head Coach. In 2019, she was part of the staff when the Commodores won the College World Series national title.
An article by 247Sports noted that Stangel is the first official hire for Lea’s staff with the Commodores, and his first addition to the support staff. She is reportedly the only female to hold a Director of Football Operations or equivalent position in the SEC.
During her softball playing career, Stangel was a 3-time letterwinner at Washington after beginning her career at Missouri. During her tenure with the Huskies, she was a 3-time All-Region selection and earned a pair of all-conference honors. She was a captain during the team’s 2017 season that resulted in a Women’s College World Series semifinal finish.
