Former Utah star Hannah Flippen has been promoted to full-time assistant coach with the Utes.

After her collegiate playing career ended in 2017, Flippen spent the 2018 season on the program’s coaching staff as a graduate assistant.

During her four-year career with the Utes, Flippen earned three all-American awards and was named the PAC-12’s Player of the Year in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017. She set the program’s all-time record in hits, runs, and batting average, and earned all-conference and all-region honors in each season of her career.

Flippen was the first player in Utah history to earn the Pac-12 Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons and the first to be named both Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. She was a finalist for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

The hard-hitting infielder followed her collegiate career by spending the 2017 summer season playing for the then-NPF champion Scrap Yard Dawgs. She has been a member of Team USA since 2016, playing for the USA Elite team in ‘16 and the national team in ‘17 and this summer. She hit five home runs for the USA Blue team at the International Cup in Irvine, California this weekend.

On the Utah coaching staff, she replaces Maggie Livreri, who departed Salt Lake City to take the head coaching position at Boise State.
