UAB has hired Hunter Veach as the program’s new assistant coach, the school announced on Monday.
Veach served as the volunteer assistant coach during the 2021 season and now ascends to a full-time position with the Blazers.
“I am unbelievably happy to welcome Hunter Veach to our staff as our new assistant coach,” UAB head coach Joe Guthrie said in a statement. “I think he’s one of the brightest minds in softball. He did an incredible job for us last season as our volunteer coach. [Assistant coach Courtnay Foster] and I are very excited about continuing to work with him.”
In 2018, Veach served as a volunteer assistant at Samford. He served on the staff at Auburn during Clint Myers’ tenure, working with the Tigers’ pitching staff. His coaching resume also includes three years as a volunteer assistant at Auburn-Montgomery.
Outside of his collegiate experience, Veach spent several years working with the Chinese national team when they participated as part of the National Pro Fastpitch league.
