TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER

Maggie Livreri Huffaker has stepped down as the head coach at Boise State, the school announced on Monday.

Huffaker spent the last three seasons as the Broncos’ head coach and led the program to the NCAA tournament as an at-large selection in 2019; it was the first time in program history that Boise State had reached the tournament without earning the conference’s automatic qualifier. Huffaker’s squad earned a win over Stanford in the opening round of that same NCAA tournament.

“”Being the head coach at Boise State has been a complete honor and privilege,” Huffaker said in a school statement. “I am grateful most for the student-athletes, their hard work, dedication and passion. I will cherish the memories made on and off the field. I am grateful to the administrators, especially Matt Brewer and Christina Van Tol, for giving me the opportunity to lead the program. I also want to thank the support staff and my amazing assistant coaches for all they’ve done for the program and to help me along this journey. As I have come to this decision to choose a different path, I have to consider my family first, and I look forward to spending more time with my husband and daughter. They’ve been my biggest supporters, and we look forward to now being Bronco fans forever. The future is so bright for Boise State softball and I can’t wait to see the success that’s in store for the program.”

During Huffaker’s tenure, the Broncos assembled a 70-52 overall record, including winning records in both 2019 and the abbreviated 2020 season. Boise State ended the 2021 campaign with a 20-25 overall record.

Prior to taking the helm at Boise State, Huffaker spent seven years as the top assistant at Utah and five years on staff at UNLV.
