Auburn ace pitcher Makayla Martin has suffered an injury that will sideline her for an indefinite period of time.

The Tigers’ senior pitching ace, Martin holds an 11-2 record on the season, posting a 1.31 ERA and eighty-six strikeouts in fifteen appearances in the circle. The fourth-year hurler has pitched nearly half of the Tigers’ innings this season, and owns victories over Oregon; Loyola Marymount; and Louisville this year.

Martin was named to the Freshman of the Year Top 25 watch list in 2016, and earned a nomination to the Women’s College World Series All-Tournament team that same year. She owns a 1.64 career ERA through her first three seasons as a Tiger, and 264 career strikeouts coming into this season.

According to a report from 247sports.com, Martin’s right – and pitching – arm was in a cast on Wednesday, which will remain for three weeks. A timetable for her return has not been set.

Behind Martin in the circle, the Tigers have a trio of pitchers who have seen action this season – junior Ashlee Swindle is the veteran member of that trio, joined by sophomore Chardonnay Harris and redshirt sophomore and former Akron transfer Lexie Handley.

Sitting at 26-4 overall on the season, Auburn is 3-0 in conference play after a 3-game sweep over Texas A&M and is currently riding a ten-game winning streak.
