Who is she? Sierra Bronkey, a former infielder for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
What is she known for? Sierra was an everyday starter for the Razorbacks during the early part of her career, primarily at second base. As a freshman in 2012, Bronkey batted .287 with two home runs and sixteen RBI.
Here’s something interesting… Sierra’s father, Jeff Bronkey, was the first – and, to date, only – Major League Baseball player to be born in Afghanistan. Born in Kabul, Jeff Bronkey played for the Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers in the mid-1990s.
Quotable quote: “I can’t even begin to describe all of the life lessons that softball has taught me to help me succeed in my professional career. The mental toughness I have acquired from playing a sport where you fail more than you succeed; the ability to be on a team with all different types of personalities; and lastly, this sport has gave me the strength and confidence I need to believe that anything is achievable, and no obstacle is too great to overcome. Just like softball or sports in general: having a great attitude and giving 110% in everything you do will get you far in life, just like it will on the field.”
What’s she up to now? Now Mrs. Sierra Scott after her 2018 wedding, Sierra now works as a registered Radiology Tech at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Working in the Cath Lab at the facility, Sierra describes her work by saying, “in simple terms, it is where doctors perform minimally invasive tests and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. I assist with the procedures while running the live X-ray machine.”
