As the defending national champions, the Oklahoma Sooners softball team paid a visit to Washington DC on Friday. The team toured the city and visited the White House, where they were greeted by President Donald Trump.
The Sooner softballers were one of eighteen NCAA national championship-winning teams that accepted the invitation to visit the nation’s capital. Among others, the twice-defending Women’s College World Series champions were joined by the men’s golf and men’s and women’s gymnastics teams from OU, as well.
During their meeting with the President at the White House, the softball team presented Trump with a custom-made Rawlings glove that included his name and the Presidential seal as part of the design.
The squad toured other DC landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and Arlington National Cemetery during their trip. This is the second White House trip in four years for the Sooner softball club; they also visited then-President Obama in 2014 to commemorate the 2013 national championship.
