Southern Utah has promoted former assistant coach Kortny Hall to become the Thunderbirds’ new head coach.
Hall spent a single season as an assistant coach on Tom Gray’s staff with the Thunderbirds, serving as the program’s pitching coach. The Thunderbirds posted a 9-38 overall record in 2018, while the team’s pitching staff had a cumulative ERA over 7.00.
Prior to joining the Thunderbirds, Hall spent three seasons as the head coach at Southern Virginia. During her time with the Knights, the squad posted an 18-84 overall record, improving from an 0-26 performance in Hall’s inaugural season to eleven victories in her third year as head coach.
Hall’s coaching resume also includes a multi-year stint as the head coach at Liberty High School in Peoria, Arizona.
A Southern Utah alum, Hall was twice named to the all-conference first team during her tenure as a Thunderbird and was named to the regional all-tournament team in her senior season. She stands 11th all-time in program history with a .334 batting average. Prior to her time with the Thunderbirds, Hall spent two seasons at Phoenix College in Arizona and was a member of the 2004 NJCAA national championship squad.
