TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER

Everybody loves a good Cinderella story, and James Madison’s first-ever berth in the Women’s College World Series checked that box for a number of figures across the sports world.

The Dukes have been contenders on the national scene for several years, including hosting a regional in 2015; a Super Regional in 2016; and advancing to the Super Regionals as an unseeded team in 2019. Nevertheless, the Dukes and ace pitcher Odicci Alexander caught the attention of a number of people from around the sports world, who chimed in on social media to show their support.

NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens and veteran football & basketball broadcaster Tim Brando were among those who discussed the Dukes’ run on social media over the weekend.

Good day for channel surfing! I’d say this is why we love sports right here! Women’s College Softball 🥎 is a blast. A lotta guys my age played Men’s Fast Pitch and it is a helluva great game to play. Kudos to these ladies from @JMUSoftball on their way to The World Series. https://t.co/Rfr43Zxbw1
