USC-Aiken has hired Jaclin Poole as the program’s new head softball coach, it was announced on Monday.
Poole spent the past five seasons as the head coach at Lees-McRae. During her tenure leading the Bobcats, the program increased its win total in every season and, in 2019, recorded their first-ever win in the NCAA tournament.
“Within four seasons, Jaclin was able help Lees-McRae win the conference tournament and earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth after taking over a six-win program,” USC-Aiken athletic director Jim Herlihy said in a statement. “She has the knowledge and experience we are looking for. Jaclin is a tremendous addition to Pacer Nation and we are thrilled to see how she can build upon a solid foundation.”
Prior to being named the head coach at Lees-McRae, Poole served as an assistant on staff with the program. She graduated from Coker College in 2013, where she was twice named to the conference’s all-tournament team and batted .310 during her four-year career.
As head coach at USC-Aiken – a role that she will begin on August 1st, per the school’s announcement – Poole takes over for Jerry Snyder, who retired following the 2020 season and is the only head coach that the program has ever known. The Pacers reached four NCAA tournaments and set a program record with 37 wins during the 2007 season.
