Following Tairia Flowers' departure to become head coach at Loyola Marymount, a new coach has become a necessity for the Matadors. Flowers spent a decade leading the CSUN program, garnering more than 250 wins and leading the team to the NCAA tournament in 2015.
Player development was a hallmark of the CSUN program under Flowers, with a recent history that at one point included three Player of the Year award winners in the span of four years. The Matadors went 16-8 on the shortened 2020 season, and return leading hitter Megan Stevens as well as pitcher Kenedee Jamerson, who threw nearly half of the team's innings during the abbreviated year.
