Molly Fichtner has been named the head coach at Louisiana-Monroe.
Fichtner most recently served as an assistant coach at East Carolina during the 2018 season, helping the Pirates to twenty-three wins and a team batting average of .239 in her sole season in Greenville.
Prior to her tenure at East Carolina, Fichtner spent two years as an assistant coach at Dartmouth and had a single-season stint as a volunteer assistant at Alabama, her alma mater, following her playing career with the Crimson Tide.
During her collegiate playing career, Fichtner began her career at UT-San Antonio and twice earned all-Southland Conference honors during her time with the Roadrunners. She was the 2011 Southland Freshman of the Year. After transferring to Alabama prior to her junior campaign, Fichtner earned second-team all-SEC honors as a senior in 2014.
Louisiana-Monroe finished the 2018 season with a 24-29 overall record, including a 10-17 mark in Sun Belt conference play.
