Former Virginia Tech head coach Scot Thomas has been named the new head coach at Gulf Coast State College. Thomas built the Virginia Tech program from the ground up, spending more than two decades at the program’s helm and leading the Hokies to the only Women’s College World Series appearance in program history in 2008. During his tenure at Virginia Tech, Thomas collected a 794-568 overall record, with sixteen winning seasons and eight appearances in the NCAA tournament. North Carolina A&T has named Patti Raduenz as the program’s new head coach. Raduenz has spent the last two years as the Director of Operations for the UNC-Wilmington women’s basketball program and previously spent six years as the director for Barefoot Basketball Camps, according  to a school press release. Before beginning her career on the hardwood, Raduenz spent eleven seasons as the head coach at Elon. Duke has hired Jessica Bracamonte as an assistant coach. Bracamonte most recently spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Central Michigan, coaching under the legendary Margo Jonker, who retired following the 2019 season. Bracamonte served as the hitting and outfield coach at CMU, and is expected to coach the outfielders and work with the offense in her new role at Duke. Samford has hired Ole Miss alum Kaitlin Lee as the program’s new assistant coach. Lee spent the 2019 season as a graduate assistant on staff at her alma mater, and was part of a staff that led the Rebels to forty-one wins, a #11 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, and a berth in the Tucson Super Regional. Allie Walljasper has been named the new assistant coach at North Dakota State, the school announced on Monday. Walljasper spent the 2019 season as a student assistant coach at LSU, her first career coaching role after a stellar four-year playing career with the Tigers. During her playing career with the Tigers, Walljasper was a three-time all-American and four-time all-region selection, and was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2015. Alysen Febrey of Georgia has entered her name into the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources informed JWOS on Thursday. A rising senior, Febrey finished tied for third on the Bulldogs’ roster during the 2019 season with thirty-six RBIs, while she ranked sixth on the roster in at-bats (153), fifth in batting average (.314), and tied for third on the team with nine home runs. Texas Tech and head coach Adrian Gregory have agreed to a contract extension, the school announced late Wednesday. The new 5-year contract will run through the 2024 season; Gregory’s original deal, signed at her hiring in 2014, expired with the 2019 campaign. 2019 marked the Red Raiders’ best season under Gregory, as the squad posted a 42-16 overall record on the year and reached the Baton Rouge regional final.
