First-year head coach Kirin Kumar has filled out her inaugural coaching staff at Miami, with the announcement of Brandon Duncan as the team’s new assistant coach. In addition to Duncan, Morgan Zerkle was retained as the program’s second assistant. Zerkle is the lone holdover from previous head coach Clarisa Crowell’s staff. Duncan most recently was an assistant coach at Rutgers, spending the past two years on staff with the Scarlet Knights under Kristen Butler. He primarily worked with the team’s pitching staff and slappers, and was part of the staff that led the program to the NISC tournament in 2019.…

Gerry Glasco doesn’t mind being called Transfer U. While it’s not a moniker that he encourages, he’s well-aware that his Ragin’ Cajuns team has reaped many benefits from the NCAA’s transfer portal since Glasco himself arrived in Lafayette in the winter of 2017. Kayla Lucas is no longer the head coach at Young Harris College, sources confirmed to JWOS early Friday. No reason was immediately given for Lucas’ departure; Lucas declined to comment to JWOS. Assistant coach Jessie Homesley, who has head coaching experience at Christian Brothers University, is a likely bet to be named the interim head coach in Lucas’ stead. Lucas finished her fifth season at YHC with the shortened 2020 campaign, and owns a career record of 173-78 during her tenure at the school. What is she known for? Andreana began her career at Western Texas College, transferring to Oregon State prior to her sophomore season. She spent three years at OSU from 2011-13, earning all-conference Honorable Mention honors in 2011 and helping lead the Beavers to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 2012 and ’13. The Florida Gulf Coast League announced on Friday that the Anna Maria Aquanauts are the newest, and final, team set to compete in the league’s 2021 summer season. With Friday’s announcement, the Aquanauts become the 10th league member team and the fourth new franchise set to debut in 2021. Three members of the Louisiana-Lafayette roster entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, sources confirmed to JWOS. Jolie Readeaux, Addalyn Lightner, and Mia Cantu all entered their names into the portal. The trio join infielder Kourtney Gremillion as players to depart the Cajuns program since the beginning of August. Gremillion matriculated at Charlotte in late September.
