Who is she? Cali Lanphear, a former all-American outfielder for the Texas A&M Aggies.

What is she known for? Lanphear was named an all-American in 2013, her freshman season, after hitting .362 with twenty-one home runs and fifty-eight RBIs. She earned SEC all-freshman honors, as well as a first-team all-region nod that same year. She was named a preseason all-SEC selection in 2014 and was selected to the 2014 USA Softball Top 50 Player of the Year watch list. She ended her career in 2016 hitting .300 with twelve home runs and fifty-three RBI.

Here’s something interesting… On a recruiting visit to Texas A&M, Lanphear met former President George H. W. Bush. She recounts, “Once Coach [Jo] Evans introduced us, he looked at me and said ‘You need to be a Texas Aggie!’ The rest is history!”

Quotable quote: “My two cents to girls wanting to play at the collegiate level is to prioritize what you want out of your college experience. Is an engineering degree more important to you than being a starter on the softball team? Choose a school based on what is important to you. Also, be realistic as to what your abilities are and your expectations going into college… there is a lot of hard work and hours that come along with being a student-athlete, but the reward is many and great!”

What’s she up to now? Following graduation, Cali obtained a real estate license and went to work for former NFL and Green Bay Packers player Terrence Murphy at his real estate firm, TM5 Properties, in College Station. She currently works for CapRock ER, an emergency medical center, as the Development Coordinator. She also gives lessons at Field House Sports in College Station, a facility owned by another former NFL player, Super Bowl Champion Ty Warren.
