UPDATE 07/27/18 11:19 — Florida officially announced Bosch’s hiring on Friday morning. He will serve as an assistant coach. Miranda Kramer has been named the interim head coach at Syracuse.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Syracuse head coach Mike Bosch is expected to be named an assistant coach at Florida, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
Bosch had been the head coach at Syracuse the past three seasons, assembling an 88-65 overall record during his tenure. The Orange posted a 28-36 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play under his leadership, most recently finishing ninth in the conference’s overall standings in 2018.
Prior to being named the Orange head coach, Bosch spent a pair of seasons as an assistant at Syracuse, primarily in charge of the team’s recruiting and serving as the pitching coach. It was his second tenure as an assistant on the Orange staff after a stint as an assistant coach from 2011-12, during which time he had a hand in leading Syracuse to the Big East title in 2011.
In addition to his multiple tenures at Syracuse, Bosch spent thirteen years as the head coach at Iowa Lakes Community College, earning 525 wins during his tenure at the school and coaching twenty-eight junior college all-Americans. While serving as softball coach, Bosch was also a mathematics professor at the school.
He is expected to serve as the pitching coach at Florida, replacing Jen Rocha who took a similar position at her alma mater, Oklahoma. The Gators own two national titles and most recently won the SEC regular-season and tournament championships in 2018, advancing all the way to Oklahoma City and the second round of the Women’s College World Series. The squad posted a cumulative ERA of 1.43 in the 2018 campaign.
