TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Former Texas pitcher Miranda Elish has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, sources confirmed to JWOS on Thursday.
Elish sat out the 2021 season after officially opting out with a COVID-19 waiver. On entering the portal, she carries both a graduate transfer designation and does not want to be contacted by miscellaneous teams; the latter designation is usually deployed by athletes who have a certain school or schools in mind as their preferred destinations.
Prior to her opt-out in mid-January, Elish had been seen by many to be the face of Texas softball since she transferred in from Oregon ahead of the 2019 season. She is a two-time All-American, including earning third-team honors in 2019, her first year as a Longhorn. During her two seasons in Austin, Elish posted a 29-13 overall record with 322 strikeouts.
A 2018 Top 25 finalist for the National Player of the Year award, Elish was named to the preseason watchlist for the award annually from 2019-21. She earned all-conference honors in each of the first three seasons of her career, including the first two years in the PAC-12. All-conference awards weren’t presented for the shortened 2020 season.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
