TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Stetson head coach Frank Griffin is retiring, the school announced on Friday morning.
Griffin spent 25 years at the helm of the Hatters’ program, collecting a 761-552 record during his tenure. Griffin led the program to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances, two regular-season conference titles, and twenty appearances in the ASun conference tournament.
In 2014, Griffin was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame.
“There comes a time when you don’t have the energy, and I just don’t have the energy anymore,” Griffin said in a school statement. “I knew this day would come. I could see it in practices, and even games. It’s been a good run. I have been at two universities – had success at both of them. I have had great relationships with staff and players. That’s what I am going to remember the most.”
Prior to his lengthy tenure at Stetson, Griffin spent seven seasons as the head coach at Winthrop, collecting 225 wins at the helm of the Eagles.
