Mike White has filled out his full-time staff at Texas, adding Kerry Shaw as his second assistant and hitting coach.
Shaw had been the head coach at Division II University of Mary for the past three seasons, leading the Marauders to a 55-87 win-loss record during his tenure. The squad posted a 34-49 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play under Shaw.
Prior to joining the Marauders, Shaw spent the 2015 season as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State. His resume also includes more than two decades of coaching experience at the high school, American Legion, and similar levels of both baseball and softball.
As a player, Shaw played four years in the San Francisco Giants’ minor league baseball system, batting .265 in his career before pursuing a lengthy tenure as a men’s fastpitch softball player. He was a member of the US Men’s national team from 2001-2003 and spent time as a teammate of Texas head coach Mike White while in the red, white, and blue.
He joins White’s coaching staff and will take the reins of an offense that batted .268 as a team unit in the 2018 season, with twenty-five home runs and a cumulative .342 on-base percentage.
