The Chicago Bandits have hired former longtime pro Lauren Lappin as an assistant coach for the club.
On the Bandit coaching staff, Lappin joins fellow former US Olympian Stacey Nuveman-Deniz, who was named the team’s head coach earlier this fall. Both players starred on the mid-2000s Olympic teams for the United States.
For her part, Lappin won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and a gold in the 2010 World Championship.
Lappin played for five years in the NPF, last taking the field for the Pennsylvania Rebellion in 2014. She spent the majority of her professional career as a member of the USSSA Pride.
Since retiring as a player, Lappin has served as an assistant coach at Roosevelt University in Chicago and at Missouri-St. Louis, her current position.
As a collegiate athlete, Lappin spent four years as a member of the Stanford Cardinal. She earned a pair of all-American awards during her career and was twice named the then-Pac 10 conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. She helped lead the Cardinal to the 2004 Women’s College World Series and was named to the all-tournament team that same year.
