Southern Miss has named Brian Levin as the program’s new head coach. Levin most recently was the head coach at Belmont, spending three seasons at the helm of the Bruins. During his tenure in Nashville, Levin led his team to the first-ever Division I postseason berth in program history, in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament in 2017, adding a second tournament berth after the 2019 season. Former Louisiana-Lafayette second baseman Casidy Chaumont is transferring to Missouri, she announced last week. In a message posted on her Twitter account, Chaumont said, “Excited to say I’ll be continuing my academic and softball career a little bit further north at the University of Missouri. MIZ! ZOU! GO TIGERS”. Chaumont entered the NCAA transfer portal on June 3rd after a 2019 campaign that saw her post a .286 batting average and a .354 on-base percentage, appearing in forty-eight games with thirty-one starts. Abilene Christian has named Abigail Farler as the Wildcats’ new head coach. Farler spent the last three seasons as the head coach at NAIA Corban University, compiling a 120-44 overall record and becoming the fastest coach in athletic department history – in any sport – to reach the 100-win mark. Brian Dunn has been hired as the new head coach at UT-Martin. Dunn is the fourth head coach in program history and follows the retired Donley Canary in the position. Canary retired after the 2019 season and is the winningest coach in program history. For his part, Dunn was most recently the head coach at the University School of Jackson, a high school approximately an hour from UT-Martin’s campus.
