A Breakout Star
Pitcher Sydney Backstrom of Longwood has quietly had a stellar season in the circle for the Lancers. She’s been a workhorse for the team, and owns a major percentage of her team’s wins. She is primed and ready for a step-out performance.
A Team to Watch
USC-Upstate is a tried-and-tested program; never count out a Chris Hawkins-led program. The Spartans have a lot of postseason experience as a program, and Hawkins knows how to win when it counts.
A Storyline
In just her second full season, third overall, as head coach, Sharonda McDonald led Campbell to their first regular-season conference championship since rejoining the Big South in 2012.

The winner of the conference tournament earns the Automatic Qualifier into the NCAA tournament. The Big South is a 1-bid league, with their highest-ranked representative in the latest RPI being Campbell at #104.
