Texas Arlington catcher Reagan Wright has been named the JWOS Player of the Week.
Wright enjoyed an offensive outburst in the first game of her team’s three-game set against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. The sophomore backstop hit three home runs in the game, going 3-4 and driving in eight runs. Wright’s performance was only the third time in UTA program history that a player hit three home runs in a single game.
Later in the series, Wright added her fourth home run of the weekend and drove in two runs. All told, the Maverick catcher finished the weekend with a .385 average (5-13), four home runs, ten RBI, and six runs scored.
The quartet of home runs tripled Wright’s season to-date total, giving her six on the year. Her ten RBI on the weekend brought her season’s total in that category to 33.
The Player of the Week honor is the first of the year for Wright, and the first for the Sun Belt Conference.
