Houston Baptist assistant coach Roger Willhite passed away on Monday. Willhite’s death was reported by KRIV sports director Mark Berman, who quoted HBU athletic director Steve Moniaci describing Willhite as “one of the most beloved figures in our history”. A 26-year member of the HBU coaching staff, Willhite joined the program when the Huskies competed at the NAIA level and was part of the staff that helped shepherd them ultimately to Division I. Oregon infielder Alyssa Brito entered her name in the NCAA’s transfer portal on Friday, sources confirmed to JWOS. Brito started fifty-three games for the Ducks as a freshman in 2021, recording a .299 batting average and tying for the team lead with ten home runs.
