Team USA swept their 3-game series over Mexico this week, in a series that gave a preview of what’s to come when softball officially returns to the Olympic slate this summer. Originally scheduled to play in mid-February in Texas, the exhibition series was postponed when an ice storm and freezing temperatures struck much of the south. Troy has filed an official protest over the finish of the final game of their weekend, a game that ended in a 4-3 loss to Southern Miss. The UTEP softball program has paused and canceled upcoming games due to COVID-19 protocols. UTEP was scheduled to play a 7-game stretch in Arizona, with matchups scheduled against Arizona State, Baylor, Grand Canyon, and Northern Illinois. Five games were set to take place at a tournament hosted by Grand Canyon in Phoenix, with a pair of single games against Arizona State in Tempe. All seven games have now been cancelled. Jacksonville senior Hannah Roberts has been named the JWOS Player of the Week for Week 4 of the Division 1 season. Roberts finished with a .727 batting average on the weekend, helping lead her team to a perfect 5-0 record.
